30 Day challenge—complete!

These are all the alphabet drawings together. The ink pen is still going, the watercolours are looking very tired, and I am completely out of brown, but they went the mile, proof that you needn't spend too much money on expensive equipment.

Prices
Watercolour set of 12 colours: $4.00 (NZ)
Ink Pen, 0.3mm waterproof:   $4.99 (NZ)
Board book, 50 leaf, A5:         $2.00 (NZ)
Paint brush: (only one used):   $3.40 (NZ)

Total cost of alphabet         $14.39 (NZ)

Time spent: 30 Days (plus a day or 3 in February if I must be brutally honest!) Obviously, time is money and I have not taken this into account, but truthfully, I enjoyed every minute of this challenge and cannot wait to do another one!

The letter Z, 30 day challenge

I did it! This is the last! It is a zucchini. I can't believe I have finally finished! My little fruit and vegetable alphabet is done and I can give myself another challenge! Yeehaa! I think I will make a poster of these all for my Etsy shops. Perhaps a memory game too! Let's see...

The letter Y, 30 day challenge

So this is a yam. In SA they call it sweet potato and in NZ they call it kumara, pretty lucky that its a yam in other places, or I wouldn't have a Y in my alphabet.

The letter X, 30 day challenge

The long anticipated X. I had no idea what to do for X, but got really lucky when a reader posted a comment on a fruit called a Xigua. It appears to be very similar to a watermelon, apart from its darker outer colour. Can't believe I only have 2 to go...

The letter W, 30 day challenge

I think I am going to avoid leaves at all costs with my last three drawings! Again, not a fruit, but a lovely addition to a salad—Watercress...

The letter V, 30 day challenge

This is my vanilla. I did have another choice to draw besides this, which was a voavanga, but from the images I saw, no two looked even vaguely alike, and the ones that did look similar, looked too much like the other fruit and veg I have drawn up to now. Vanilla is not a fruit or a veg, but I cannot find one anywhere, so there you go...

The letter U, 30 day challenge

This is an Ugni, apparently a type of Chilean guava.

The letter Q, 30 day challenge

Here is a quince. I have no idea what this fruit tastes like so was not completely emotionally attached to it when drawing, if you get what I mean...

The letter O, 30 day challenge

You guessed it, an orange...

The letter N, 30 day challenge

Well, I took a little more time with this one and there were fewer mistakes. O to follow...

The letter K, 30 day challenge

Here is a kiwifruit! I am starting to have to do these really quickly now, this one wasn't even dry when I scanned it (note the smudge, and the fact that I totally forgot to paint the stalk!). Rushing to get more done...

The letter J, 30 day challenge

Well! I really don't like this one. It's a jicama, which apparently is a type of turnip. I put far too much black ink pen in this one. This vegetable is actually very pale in colour. Can you spot the mistake (clue: a line going down the right hand side...oops!). Not being allowed to make any corrections, it stays! What  pains me is that this is going to be on top of my blog until I post a new one!

The letter I, 30 day challenge

Well, this one takes the cake for difficulty! All those leaves on leaves...on leaves! This is taking so much longer than I thought. I am really hoping I don't have to extend this deadline, that totally defeats the object, but I am no fun on no sleep!

The letter H, 30 day challenge

Here is H. This is a hubbard squash, believe it or not. I pictured it to be a little more round and a lot more green! I am really starting to miss using other styles and was very tempted to use more of a splatter on this one (to match my Saturday mood), but that is not what I challenged myself, is it?

The letter F, 30 day challenge

Well it's been a wee while and I am seriously behind with this challenge so I'm going to have to catch up furiously over the next few days! Here is a feijoa. A lovely little fruit available in very few countries. I first discovered it when I arrived in New Zealand. Anyone that has not yet tasted this is missing out!

The drawing was a little difficult, I got the shape wrong, but in keeping with my little challenge-to-self, there could be no redrawing and it has to stay.

The letter G, 30 day challenge

So this is a guava. I haven't seen one for years and I have looked everywhere. This is one of my favourite fruits in the world—yum! My water colour paints are starting to look a bit haggard, I will put a pic up once I am done with the whole alphabet, if they last that long.

The letter E, 30 day challenge

So I went with eggplant. This was a hard one, such a smooth skin drawn in cross hatch. And to get purple out of those cheap water colours (as mentioned in previous posts), this one has taken me the longest of all the food so far. To me it doesn't show, not my favourite, I'm afraid!

There is another style I would like to try, but alas! I promised myself I would finish and stick to the style,  so that's what I'm going to do, I'll leave that for another 30 day'r!

The letter D, 30 day challenge

Well this was a little harder, firstly, I didn't want to draw a date because I don't eat them at all, in fact they are high on my list of food dislikes, so I ended up with a dill pickle. A little ugly looking but makes up for it on taste and goodness!

The letter C, 30 day challenge

Hi all

Still going strong, though I have been totally tempted to change the style!

Here is C.
